The world around us....

A lot of things happen around us and we can do nothing more than see let things happen. I don’t know if ever I will be in position to stand against wrong and be able to contribute anything to the society or country. After doing my Mtech from NITIE which was mostly waste of precious 2 years of my life I now realize that this is not the place I want to be. It’s a different world, unaware of the realty, a superficial, artificial world. All I can do is earn for myself and live a very selfish life.
I would like to share a recent incident which left me in grieve. Some days back while I was returning to my place, while driving I saw a small kid about 9 years old , hungry and weak .His face seems to be like he has not had any food since days. He was sitting between 4 dogs by the side of a KFC restaurant and eating disposed food picked from garbage. The dogs were staring at him with hope of getting a bite. This very incident pained me a lot. In our limited world where we endlessly thrive for material wealth never satisfied with what we get, there are people who have lost their sense of humanity or even forgot that they are humans because of poverty. In our surroundings people are ready to spend loads of money for their luxury but their pocket goes dry for asked to donate.
Here the point to note is that the nation is growing with GDP increasing every day but the greater part still remains of poor and deprived class.25% of the GDP of India is accounted by 54 richest people of the country in a population of a billion. If we see definition of Below poverty line(BPL) it accounts for a family earning less than 1$ a day and if we increase the limit to 2$ and extend the definition of poverty line, surprisingly 80% of the population of India will be below poverty line. How can we talk of becoming a Super power with 80% people living in inhuman condition? Does the handful of cities constitute the whole India? I read a recent article about China which says that by 2015 china will extend their Food security bill to 54% of the population. At one stage China and India were at the same level. They started together but today we lag far behind. Our bureaucracy is only capable of collecting money for the luxuries of politicians and the so called Rich class. In the IPL bidding crores of money comes to buy a team. Think what differenece could have been made from that money, how many hospitals, schools, roads could have been built? How many hungry could have been fed?
The thoughts that come to my mind are endless, searching for a solution. What can I do? May be help a poor or two. You may think , that would hardly make a difference. But I will say No….. That would better the life of atleast one and if everyone understands this and starts to contribute we can surely change the world around us.
If u remember a famous saying.. it goes as……
Sai itna dijiye…..jaaame kutumb samaye…
Main bhi bhukha na rahoo…. na sadhu hi bhukha jaye….
